Daisy Haites

Daisy Haites by Jessa Hastings
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

To be honest, I think this book finished me. I am a Daisy girl through and through. After reading MP, I needed a minute since it was so toxic and painful. It sent me on an emotional roller coaster, and diving into Daisy simply made my heart hurt even more. I enjoyed that we finally got to experience Christian, Julian, and Daisy's perspectives because the story and characters couldn't be more diverse.

Daisy's background and upbringing were extremely different from Magnolia's, and I adored everything about her; she is so smart, knew her worth, was strong-willed, independent, fierce, and empathetic all at once, as well as a full badass. I enjoyed all of the footnotes to her inner thoughts because they were so relatable, but I especially adored her bond with her brother Julian.

"You don't shy away from hard things; you're not scared of things that hurt you-you look them in the eye and stare them down until they're on their knees and doing exactly what you want them to do."

Julian. god damn. Haites… The way he loves and cares for Daisy means everything. He's the type of man who commands respect and authority, exudes mystery, and, of course, is daddy.

WOW did Christian and Daisy deliver; it's so messy, but I reckon that's what makes it so good. Christian truly matured since MP, I thought he was constantly trying to be obnoxious when he didn't get his way, but it was so much more than that, and he was emotionally wrecked after Magnolia, so witnessing his growth to finally recognizing what he deserves and fighting for Daisy made me happy.

THE ENDING… can we just not? I am still very much damaged from those very intense soul-crushing last couple of chapters… and Christian? “you can be done, Baby” TOOK ME THE HELL OUT… a man… that is all I will say… how do they expect me to just move on back to Magnolia?! HOW?!
