Credence

Credence by Penelope Douglas
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This has satisfied a very inappropriate part of my brain and I'm not even mad about it.

This book is NOT for everyone… but I guess I am one of the people it is for. The whole family dynamic was a bit daunting at first but after I read and finally understood what was happening and I enjoyed the whole plot of the story. Yes, some things did not necessarily sit right with me trust me... but you know what it is what it is and I am very impressed with Penelope Douglas' creativity in being able to write a story like this.

There are so many different emotions in this book so please look at the trigger warnings before you go into this blind. Some parts are dark, emotional, and very spicy with lots of... situations with family. So if you are not into that I would not recommend reading it.

Our main character Tiernan had such a shitty life plain and simple, and I don't mean physically but emotionally she had nothing and it was so sad to see that. While also getting to know the men in the story they also had a heartbreaking past and they both hurt equally the same. Tiernan in a way was the boy's salvation and they were hers.

I loved Noah and Kaleb they were just such a unique duo the way they understood each other with no words but still had such a close relationship with each other was interesting to see. Then there's Jake who was just such a caring person to all of them, especially Tiernan and these boys LOVED HER, willing to protect her and kill for her type of love and that dynamic already gets me.

I cried at the end because just wow this story has EMOTION and it did make me feel something and we love that.

While the "family" part of the book is different, some readers may struggle to accept how everything happened BUT IF YOUR LIKE ME, you can separate the two because well.. if you read it you'll understand. I was fine with it because they weren't blood-related, and Tiernan didn't have any relationship to any of them really but in the end, it made them family.

This was my second book by Penelope Douglas and she pushes the boundaries with her stories from what I've read so far and she can make it very captivating. I will definitely be reading more of her books!
