Birthday Girl
Birthday Girl by Penelope Douglas
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
This book was nothing like I thought it was, the title definitely threw me for a loop and the trope of boyfriend's dad?! this was definitely a first, but I loved it. My thought the whole time was "how would his son react" seriously I mean if this has happened in real life which I know it must have then I need a front row seat to the actual thing.
I have the perfect song for this book truly, it was a summer anthem that I didn't even think twice about it! if you follow me you'll know soon enough!!!! (hehe) but honestly seeing the dynamic between Jordan and Cole was really sad, they had no chemistry, and it was just a relationship of convenience... enter PIKE her boyfriend's dad and here he comes in spicing everything up. Everything his son IS NOT! but in a good way obviously.
Seeing how protective Pike was over Jordan and seeing how caring Jordan was for him it starts off innocent but then it just developed into something more. I really loved when Jordan was acting like a brat is just showed her age but then you have Dady Pike ready to go lol I loved the dynamic. Although they both showed their jealousy with each other when everything FINALLY happened it was such a relief because well FINALLY it was in the works. The book was chaos at some points just so much happening but adding the story line and I loved seeing Jordan realize her own worth but at times I understood where Pike was coming from about not telling his son because that would be a lot for anyone... but everything worked out, I do think she should have made him grovel a little more but to each their own, it was a nice story for both of them and finally seeing them happy.
