Twisted Hate
Twisted Hate by Ana Huang
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
When I was reading the series, I really thought that this was the one I was not going to like the most… and it turns out I was very wrong, and I’ve never been happier to be wrong. I devoured this book, I did not see it coming from a mile away, I already knew that I was going to love Jules, but I was skeptical on Josh’s character, but I loved everything about this book.
We really get to dive into about Jules’ past and who she was, and that girl has also been put through the ringer in life, and it just makes us understand her in ways that I wouldn’t have if she was skipped over. Then we have Josh the official playboy who is handsome and devastatingly smart, I loved that they were basically a power couple on their damn own, they worked for everything they wanted Jules on her way to become a lawyer and Josh becoming a doctor.
The banter, the wittiness, all the tension you can cut with a damn knife between these two it was just SO GOOD! They really kept their essence throughout the whole story, and I loved that more because their whole story is truly a enemies to lovers and that’s my favorite kind of trope. I did not expect Josh Chen to have the mouth he has; he really socked the hell out of me. The other men I could understand but idk why I just didn’t see it with him but I’m so glad I did because Josh Chen will be a yes for me always.
Josh and Jules are more complex together than they are apart, the third act that came about brought an entirely new intensity to the story. That is how we were able to really see who Jules' used to be and I appreciated the plot since it kept us guessing the whole way through.
I really hated what Josh did. I can see why he had that reaction, but it was just heartbreaking. Their story started as an intense hate, and confusing feelings for both of them and in a way you know that saying that "stars that burn the brightest, often crash the fastest" I think that saying is very fitting in this instance. I cried so hard for my girl Jules that whole scene was just terrible for me.
In the end, he more than made up for it, and I have to admit that I really like this book because we finally saw Josh and Alex reestablish their friendship, which was a bonus for me because after everything that occurred, Josh understood that he was and always would be his closest friend, and vice versa. We saw a more emotional side to Alex, which was just the cherry on top for me, because Ava transformed him in so many ways that were foreign to the men around him, and now he's offering advise on how to repair everyone's relationship.
The end is what won me too, I loved seeing thee two come back together and trying so hard to stay apart and their love was just too strong. The epilogue was everything for me between these two so different, yet they make it work somehow and they wouldn’t want it any other way, a strong 4.75 for me.
