Saving 6
Saving 6 by Chloe Walsh
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This was my first audiobook ever and I loved the Irish accents, and it took me a while to listen to it because of LIFE but it's okay.
First, I just need to say that Chloe Walsh has done it again and I just know she will continue to do it. She has made me feel every emotion in each of these books and I WILL NEVER STOP TALKING ABOUT IT, I knew from the moment I finished Binding 13 that this would be my favorite series.
Now, let's get into talking about my babies Joey and Aoife.
I thought I couldn't adore Joey more, but I was wrong. Being in Joey's mind was heartbreaking, he has been carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders since 12 years old ever since Darren left (which I still don’t forgive him for, even after keeping 13) to protect his family from his father's abuse. Joey is a real-life warrior, and protector, no matter what he felt he would never abandon his siblings the way Darren did, he made my heart squeeze every time he thought that he meant nothing to no one or felt that he didn’t belong in the world. I love him so much.
Aoife Molloy, the girl with a heart of gold and fiery personality. I just want to give her a huge hug for being there for Joey and seeing him when no one else did. I mean see him for who he was on the inside rather than all the things he was doing, she knew he was worth more than that. Joey met his match with her, she calls him out on his bullshit and she goes after what she wants and she gets it every time. She stayed by his side, protected him fiercely, and stood up to all the people who ever spoke badly about Joey and that’s including his mother, father, and Shane. You never give up on the people you love and Aoife is the absolute epitome of that.
Don’t talk to me about his mother AT ALL, she is a vile and I honestly had no sympathy for her until maybe one moment, but it took a lot to even get there. His father I hate him period.
I absolutely love Johnny and Shannon, but Joey and Aoife’s story is more raw, with the heroine trying to save the boy she has always loved and never giving up on him even when everyone around him has (except his siblings and Aoife's father). The boy who thinks he doesn’t deserve anything or even the life he was given and the only thing worth loving other than his siblings is the beautiful girl with nice legs.
I SOBBED, and I am not okay. I just know Redeeming 6 is going to make me hit the floor. If you read Keeping 13 you already know where Joey is at the moment, but seeing everything that happened to him in his perspective is going to be heartbreaking but I can’t wait until he is redeemed. Chloe knows how to play on emotions and it does just that. I went from laughing, giddy, crying all within one chapter sometimes and I will just never get over how amazing Chloe’s writing is.
