My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Rupi Kaur, this was really genuine and honest to read. This book is made up entirely of poetry about what it means to be a woman and acknowledging everything that women have, can, would, or will experience or consider during their lives. This is actually one of my faves because it discusses accepting change, accepting others as you are, and facing the challenges life may present. It's not quite feminist, but it hits the mark nonetheless.

This book made me sad, happy, and empowered all at the same time; it is a mix of emotions and feelings. Some is dark, some is humorous, but most of all it is real, and I believe that is what makes it a terrific quick read. I understand it may not be for everyone, presumably because of the dark portions, which may get extremely dark... but if you can make it to the end, I'm proud of you since it may force you to mentally replay old experiences, which is okay. You're stronger now, and you finished the book; it's in the past, and you prevailed. (A virtual hug).
