The House Across The Lake
The House Across the Lake by Riley Sager
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Riley Sager has a way with books, and he understands how to turn heads with his imaginative writing, as well as creating page-turners that will make you feel like a mad woman. This story follows Casey Fletcher, an actress who hit rock bottom after losing her husband and becoming an alcoholic. In order to get away from everyone and everything, she travels to her family's home in Vermont, and as soon as she arrives, everything begins to unravel. While out on the lake, Casey notices a woman drowning in the water and saves her life; her name is Katherine Royce.
The number of times I tried to guess what was going to happen next or who I believed was accountable for everything... jaw-dropping. The two women ended up being friends as a result of the incident, and Katherine is a supermodel herself, so both Casey and she could connect to one other's lives and how alone they felt at times in their careers. The plot begins when Katherine starts opening up to Casey about her life and how really imperfect her life and marriage are with her husband Tom, then suddenly Katherine disappears, and Casey suspects Tom did something to her.
She is determined to find out what happened...but this is only the beginning
I rated this book a 5/5 because I truly did not see what was coming until the climax hit, and it was worth every second... honestly the definition of how things are never as they seem, and you have to really expect the unexpected. Overall, should definitely be on your reading list. You will be just as shocked as I was to find out what happened!
Definitely one of my favorite books!
