Hearts of Glass

You want the benefits
and not the title
who do you think you are?

Making me feel bad for moving on
and for choosing me,
I won't settle for sweet nothings anymore.

You chose to keep me on the side,
You chose to not take me seriously

I was blind to who you were
When everyone around me could see.
They warned me that you were "too machista"
and that I would never really be happy

What's that saying?
"You can't see clearly
with rose-colored glasses"
And I wish I knew that sooner.

Friends turn into lovers
and lovers turn into strangers
isn't that the cycle?...

Once great friends,
and a part of us wishes we could of kept it that way
but fate decided that we needed to learn
the consequences of loving someone to much
and making us become a memory that fades

I wish I knew my self-worth back than
And I wish I didn't let you hurt me the way that you did..
But that's ancient history

I guess I can't be upset for the way
Things ended between us,
You really did me a favor..
You taught me so many lessons
Not just about love but about me

How far I was willing to lose myself
And accept a love that I thought was real
It's exactly like the quote from
'The Perks of Being A Wallflower'

"We accept the love we think we deserve"

And I think that's true..
but I realized now
The love I deserve is deep, pure,
respectful and passionate
A love that you could never give me.

But someone else could,
and you always knew.

I don't regret loving you
but I do believe things happen for a reason,
and even though it was for a short time
We both finally passed on to different seasons

We are now merely two people
Who knew each other very well,
and have so much history that both our hearts ached.
We knew by the end of our relationship
it was always bound to break.

We departed some time ago,
no goodbye's or farewells.

just a silent exchange..
With our looks of sadness

It was the best for both of us
to keep our memories locked away,
We decided to leave the past
and inevitably go our separate ways.

We turned around and looked to the future
For a better love story for ourselves one day.
